Enjoy a holiday in the wild Italian Alps
The Casa in Mezzo is situated in Zonca, a remote Alpine Village in Piemonte near Domodossola. The village is largely abandoned and now only has a few inhabitants, mostly expats from Germany, Switzerland and Holland.
The unique character of Zonca is due to the fact that it is only reachable by an unpaved road and so it has not been modernised. Most of the houses are now ruins. The village and surrounding forest are a very quiet place. Nature intrudes into the village wherever possible.

Complete Serenity
Of all the villages in the area, Zonca is the one that has preserved its charcter most due to it having no proper access road. As a consequence there is very little by way of traffic except for the occassional hiker. Nothing to disturb your experience of peace and tranquility and your enjoyment of nature in all its splendour. Staying here is like travelling back in time ... with a few luxuries for pragmatic reasons.

Zonca inhabitants strive consistently to ensure sustainability and minimal environmental impact. This includes the use of building materials, the recycling of waste and extends even to transport and energy.
